Design Description

During the design stage of this project, the components of the car will be assumed to a dimension that best fits the car’s shell. Spring rates on both the coil and leaf spring will be determined by the weight of the car, the length of the control arm, and the geometry of the mounting point of the upper and lower control arm to the suspension tower on the chassis. Propulsion of the motor will dictate what material the driveshafts are going to be made from, along with the weight of these different materials will be considered. Overall, the decision of having coil suspension in the front, and leafspring suspension in the rear, along with a driveshaft leading to a limited slip differential with two axils.
